“We have a new organic facial in the salon, why don’t you come along and review it?” said Pauline at Bewitching Beauty. It is a tough job reviewing the treatments, therapies and courses at WHG Magazine but someone has to do it...
My drive in to Bewitching Beauty in the South side of Glasgow was a little fraught. Roadworks, bad driving and my general lack of effective time management had conspired to make me late. I arrived out of breath and a little stressed. Pauline Reid, the lady in charge at Bewitching Beauty, ushered me through to the treatment room which was warm, cosy and relaxing. I was to experience the new Eco Escape Moisturizing and de-polluting facial treatment by Equavie that Pauline had recently added to the Bewitching Beauty repertoire. To her knowledge this is currently the only purely natural and organic facial available in Scotland. I settled myself on the bed and started to relax. The treatment blurb promised to be my escape to an authentic, reassuring, natural world that restores the benefits of nature to moisturize, de-pollute, and recover skins natural radiance. This I was keen to see as my introduction to the juggling act of primary school run, writing, working and everyday mayhem had taken its toll. In short I felt I looked aged and old and was looking for some sort of skin miracle! Pauline started with a yoga based massage on my head and body which left me in a lovely chilled out state as she started work on my skin. The Equavie products all had a very subtle and gentle scent that are designed to whisk you away to an orchard of summer fruit, fields of wheat, and an aromatic garden bathed in the summer fragrance of Provence... It was very very nice. There were so many stages to it I think I lost count of the number of times Pauline attended to my face, neck, shoulders, hands and feet. There was a cleansing milk, a toning milk, a de-polluting mask, a serum, a scrub and a deep moisturiser. The mask was probably my favourite experience, it had a lovely wheaty scent and it was just so relaxing to lie there and let the world drift by. I was mildly concerned when Pauline explained that the purpose of the mask and the facial in general was to detoxify the skin. I had visions of a spotty chin for the next few days as the toxins came out to play however I needn’t have worried. My skin felt fabulous after the treatment and stayed that way for quite some time. I bumped into a couple of friends on the way home and they commented on how well I was looking and that was without make up – a miracle! My skin felt soft and rejuvenated in the days that followed and not one pimple appeared. I think I am hooked on the Equavie facial...
